Tuesday 26 November 2013

Well, Year 1 are in the midst of a Nativity Frenzy! With just over two weeks to go until the big performance, we have been busy practising the songs. Tomorrow we will start running through the whole play - words and all! Therefore, if your child has been given a speaking part, please can you practise their words at home. It would be helpful for children to keep their words in their bags so we can use them to practise.

Apart from that, we have been focusing on 2D shape this week. We would like all children to know the four basic 2D shapes (circle, square, triangle and hexagaon) and be able to describe them using the correct language. Some children are ready to start recogising other shapes such as pentagon, octagon, diamond and oval.

We have started a Kindness Reward Bauble for the whole class this week, encouraging children to be kind to others and to discourage any rough play or any falling out with our friends. I'm sure your child will be able to describe how our Reward Bauble works!

Mrs Thomson and Mrs McCormack Jones are both looking forward to our Parent's Evening, this Thursday. As this is our first meeting, we are both hoping to speak to parents together, rather than you just speaking to one teacher. Each meeting is just 5mins long, so although the meeting is brief, please remember that you can always speak to one of us after school if you would like more time.
